Spring Forward, Fall Back - a handy motto, even though we don't refer to Autumn as 'Fall' ever, it does make it easier to remember which way round the clocks go as we wave goodbye to GMT and welcome in the (ironically named) British Summer Time.

The yard at Tefkas Towers is not in peak condition: the concrete's cracked, buckled and crumbling, and there's a 'flower bed' (more like a weed propogation section) that runs along the side. A letter arrived from the solicitors yesterday, along with a cheque for the balance of the written-off bike. However, the letter that accompanied the cheque explained that the other party's insurers had made no mention of liability: the fact that they appear to be settling up for the bike, at least, is being taken as a sign that they consider their ( Read more... )

Phone call from Snr Plod to arrange for an interview tomorrow morning, at 9.30. This time he's coming to work, so I don't miss anything should, heaven forfend, he be unable to make if for reasons unspecified.

The police didn't turn up. Again.

In other news, we went to see Brokeback Mountain yesterday evening: beautifully shot, but I thought the ageing of Jack Twist was a little ropey. Also, because I knew it was based on an E Annie Proulx story, I was probably looking for parallels, but the tone/feel of the thing was very reminiscent of The Shipping ( Read more... )
